Harmonica Festival 2005, Trossingen - Germany
 Fans
de l'harmonica, attention! C'est pour bientôt. Le Festival
Mondial de l'Harmonica , qui se déroule tous les quatre ans,
aura lieu pour la 5ème fois à Trossingen , dans la
Forêt Noire, du 2 au 6 Novembre 2005. L' événement
est organisé par la Fédération Internationale
de l'Harmonica (FIH).
Outre des concerts
, le festival proposera aussi des concours, séminaires et
différentes master classes. Un programme considerable de
Workshops couvrira tous les aspects de l' harmonica moderne. Comme
par le passé, cet événement mettra en scène
différents styles d' harmonicas et de musiques. Un autre
point fort est représenté par la légendaire
"session de nuit" qui offre l' opportunité à
tous de monter sur scène avec les professionnels, et de participer
en compagnie de vieux ou nouveaux amis, à cette gigantesque
party.

Accordion
and Harpsichord Duet Concert - Colombia
 Le
mois dernier, au Centre Culturel de l' Universidad Pedagògica
Nacional de Bogotà, l'accordéoniste colombien Làcides
Romero et la joueuse de clavecin Liliana Hernàndez, ont donné
un concert en duo. Lors de la première partie du concert,
ils ont joué diverses oeubres Baroques, telles que le Concert
en FM Op.4 #5 de Handel. Dans la deuxième partie du concert,
ils ont joué Serenata Española (Oliver Metra), et
trois compositions de l' accordéoniste Lacides Romero, intitulées
Catalina, Marcela et Adriana. Le public a été ravi
d' entendre cette association insolite d'instruments, qui produit
une sonorité harmonieuse.

"Accordion Calls Tune" headline - UK
 Ce
récent gros titre du Sunday Times, Royaume-Uni, ne concerne
absolument pas l' accordéon, mais a pour sujet un cheval
nommé "Accordion Etoile" , propriété
de Paul Nolan, qui a acquis une grande notoriété grâce
à ses fréquents succès en course.
Au début de sa carrière, "Accordion Etoile",
âgé de 6 ans, a dû surmonter un cancer né
d'une verrue maligne sur le boulet. Il a si bien récupéré
qu'il fit partie des huits chevaux d'obstacle irlandais inscrits
au Championnat de l'an dernier. Donc, si vous jouez de l' accordéon
et aimez parier sur les chevaux, peut-être Accordion Etoile
vous vaudra-t-il de bonnes surprises!!!!

Floren, accordéoniste très populaire regretté
vivement dans tous les USA. Une rubrique nécrologique importante

Salon de l'enfant 2005 - Nouvelle-Zélande

The
New Zealand
Accordion Association La New Zealand Accordion Association, dans
ses efforts à promouvoir l' accordéon auprès
des jeunes, a participé activement à la promotion du
Salon de l' Enfant 2005 à Auckland, du 9 au 11 Juilet. La promotion
fut menée en collaboration avec le Music Education Centre,
le plus grand studio privé de musique de Nouvelle-Zélande
(Directeurs Lionel Reekie et Marcel Riethmann) et avait pour but d'encourager
de nouveaux jeunes étudiants à s' adonner à l'apprentissage
de l'accordéon.
Plus de 1.000 prospectus ont été distribués et
plus de 100 leçons de mini-accordéon pour les enfants
ont été données . En outré, une exposition
d'accordéon pour enfants a été organisée.

Koda
Return To "T In The Park" Festival - Scotland

 KODA
were invited again this year to perform at Scotland's biggest Music
Festival "T in the Park" held in Balado near Kinross.
Band member Keith Dickson writes: "Once
again, the sun was shining, with several members of KODA travelling
on Saturday to experience great bands such as Keane, Embrace, the
Killers and the Foo Fighters. However, it was our performance in the
Ceilidh Tent on Sunday that we were most looking forward to.
Sunday was a fantastic day; the sun was again glorious, with some
people getting a bit too much of it! The crowds were enormous with
the Main Stage and the NME Stage packed out with big names such as
Green Day, Razorlight, Travis and Athlete really enjoying playing
their recent hits to the lively Scottish audience.
 Situated
between these stages was the Ceilidh Tent where KODA were performing.
We attracted a large and passionate crowd, performing a wide selection
of old favorites and new tracks such as Blair's 21st, Alternative
Frequency and Jock the Box.
KODA's version of Dignity and Loch Lomond had the crowd singing, waving
flags and sitting on each others shoulders, much to the security guards
displeasure!. All the band had such a brilliant time with some members
signing autographs (some in strange places!) and receiving tremendous
encouragement from this great festival audience."

Buckwheat
Zydeco new CD, appears in Kansas City - USA
 Buckwheat
Zydeco, is back with their first CD in eight years and were appearing
in Kansas City on August 3 at Knuckleheads. The album, titled Jackpot!,
combines soulful original tunes, inspired playing and singing, and the
trademark exuberance that's made Buckwheat Zydeco one of the best-loved
zydeco artists. There is a string of great new songs showcasing Grammy
nominee and Emmy winner Stanley "Buckwheat" Dural Jr. and
his long-time touring band.
"It
was great to get back in the studio with a batch of new song ideas and
my band," Dural notes. The record is Dural's third on
his own Tomorrow Recordings label, which is distributed by Alternative
Distribution Alliance.

 The
musical titled "Hohner Das Musical" will appear at the Konzerthaus
Trossingen from the 25 to 31 December 2005. Trossingen is known far
and wide as the home of the
Hohner companies and is the ideal place to experience "Hohner
The Musical." at the original scene. With a true history, 25
actors and a large musical orchestra, this musical should be an unforgettable

One
of the stars at Womad Rivermead Festival in Reading, 29-31 July was
Argentinian accordionist Chango Spasiuk. A dashing figure with flashing
eyes and a long red-gold mane, the 36-year-old accordion virtuoso
is the musical figurehead of Argentina's Misiones province.

Jim Coogan had several accordions on the porch of the Weldon House,
East Durham, NY during Catskills Irish Arts week. On the 14th July,
Jim was approached by a man who said he was a friend of a friend and
that he wanted to try out a new Burke whistle with a Castagnari accordion.
