La
Confédération
Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) tiendra son congrès
annuel d'hiver et la 119eme Assemblée générale
des délégués à Skopje, en Macédoine
du 18 au 20 Janvier 2008. La première fonction de la CIA qui
se tiendra en Macédoine, l'activité sera organisée
et accueillie par le membre de la CIA, l'Association des Accordéonistes
- MACEDOINE "Ljubiteli nd klasicnata muzika" - Skopje sous
la présidence de Zorica Karakutovska, qui est le siège
également du Comité de Musique de la CIA.
En plus des diverses réunions et activités des comités
de la CIA, l'événement sera marqué par une nuit
macédonienne, où les délégués et
les invités peuvent profiter de l'hospitalité de leurs
hôtes macédoniennes.

In Memoriam: Zita Abromaviciute (1946-2007), Vilnius,
Lituanie
Concertiste
et professeur de renom Zita Abromaviciute est décédé
le 4 décembre, après une longue lutte contre le cancer.
Professeur adjoint de l'Académie de Musique et de Théâtre
Lituanien, Zita Abromaviciute est né le 4 Juillet 1946, à
la ville de Siauliai, en Lituanie. Elle a terminé ses études
à l'Académie, dans la classe de L. Survila, après
quoi elle a fait des études de troisième cycle à
l'Académie Gnessin à Moscou, dans la classe de E. Onéguine.
Elle a commencé à travailler à l'Académie
de musique et de théâtre Lituanien en 1974, après
quoi elle est devenue l'une des premieres accordéonistes lituaniennes
jouant professionnellement, des programmes de musique originales,
de nombreux concerts et a joués avec la Philarmonique lituanienne
partout dans la Lituanie, la Russie et les pays voisins.
Elle s'est produite et a enregistré la majeure partie de son
répertoire sur le Radio lituanienne, et a été
membre de l'Association lituanienne Accordéon.
Au cours de sa longue et fructueuse carriére d'enseignement,
elle a découvert sa propre méthode d'enseignement et
de détente d'accordéon en utilisant les méthodes
et la psychophysiologie. Sa méthodologie a été
présenté dans des colloques, des séminaires et
des conférences. Elle a rédigé un livre, qui,
avec l'aide de ses anciens étudiants et collègues, devra
être publié prochainement.
En tant que professeur, elle était encore très strictes,
intelligentes et raisonnable. Le principal point de sa méthode
a consisté en créer le pur, droit et son naturel, qui
ne proviennent pas seulement de l'instrument, mais aussi du coeur
et l'esprit du musicien.
Les accordéonistes Lituaniens ont une perte très importante
et significative dans leur vie.
Dans
la foule de co-recevoir la plus grande manifestation internationale
d' accordéon aux Etats-Unis, le 60eme anniversaire CIA de la
Coupe Mondiale,
championnats du monde d'accordéon, organisé par l'ancien
président et actuel AAA conseil d'administration Faithe
Deffner, en 2008 marquera le jalon du 70eme anniversaire de l'Association
Americaine d' Accordéonistes.
La première réunion d'un groupe d'accordéonistes
de New York a été eu lieu le 9 Mars 1938 pour determiner
pour evaluer si une association d'accordéonistes devraient
être constitués ou pas. Après beaucoup de discussion
et d'accord qu'un tel groupe devrait être constitué,
une proposition a été faite par Sydney Dawson que le
nom de l'association devrait être 'The American Accordéonistes'
Association ", qui a été appuyée par Charles
Magnante et adoptée par unanimité.
Une
proposition a été faite par Anthony Galla - Rini, et
appuyée par Pietro Frosini, que les membres du bureau de l'association
devrait inclure le Président, vice-président, secrétaire
et trésorier. Frosini a suggéré qu'en raison
de la réputation de Pietro Deiro, qu'il soit désigné
et élu par acclamation en tant que premier président
de l'association. Bien que les candidatures n'ont pas besoin d'un
deuxième, Galla - Rini entre autres et Deiro ont été
élu par unanimité. Charles
Nunzio, (picture left) le seul survivant des membres fondateurs
de l'organisation, a été élu vice-président.
L'AAA procédera à une célébration tout
au long de l'année, y compris des événements
comme un concert à New York au printemps, et leur 70eme anniversaire
concours et le Festival, qui aura lieu du 15 au 19 Août 2008
à l'hôtel Holiday Inn / Rosslyn à Arlington, en
Virginie, dans la région de Washington DC. En plus des catégories
de compétition pour tous les âges et les styles de musique,
le 70eme anniversaire du Festival de Jazz comprendra plusieurs catégories,
ainsi que la bourse d'études "Carrozza catégorie"
offrant un premier prix de $ 3500,00.
The
second International Festival 'From Baroque to Jazz' took place in
and around Wroclaw from April 20th until December 5th. This long running
festival, held under the patronage of the Lower Silesia Region Speaker,
included 30 concerts, a series of accordion competitions, and courses
for accordionists. Courses were led by Vladimir
Besfamilnov - (picture left) Professor at the Kiev Musical Academy.
Competitors came from Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Ukraine and New
Zealand. The Festival Director was Olexiy Suslov.
A concert featuring prominent accordionists Olexiy Suslov, Eneasz
Kubit and Oleksandr Khrustevich, together with the Symphonic Orchestra
'Ricordanza' took place on November 22nd.
The accordion contest consisted of five categories, and the Jury Chairman
was Bogdan Dowlasz, Professor at the Lodz Musical Academy. Results.
Accordionist
Tom Alexander is internationally known as one half of the vocal/instrumental
duo the Alexander Brothers. Tom, however, was once an All Scotland
Champion, and sometimes performs and records as an accordion soloist.
His latest solo CD, 'Bits and Pieces' is a mixture of Scottish tunes
and accordion specialities - all performed and recorded to a high
standard on a Hohner
Gola.
In July 2005 Tom and Jack were invited to Holyrood Palace where they
were awarded the MBE by Her Majesty The Queen for services to Entertainment".
The 20 tracks include 'El Relicario', 'Isle of My Heart', 'The Flowers
of Edinburgh', 'Petite Waltz', 'Skye At Last', 'Lady of Spain', 'The
Dark Island', 'Whistling Rufus', 'Eilean Gorm Mhuile', 'Dance of the

'Piper's Waltz', 'Jealousy', 'Farewell to Kintail', 'The Furrow's

The
2008 National
Accordion Association Convention takes place at the Richardson
Hotel, Dallas, from March 13th to 15th. Plans are well underway, and
presenters and performers are invited to apply by December 15th. The
Convention covers a very wide spectrum of national and international
accordion styles.
This year, at the 2007 convention, accordionists of all ages and levels
were enriched by dozens of workshops including basic playing techniques,
teaching techniques, Scottish style performing, diatonic basics, registration
selection, bass patterns, bass enhancement, motivation, emergency
repairs, MIDI, Slovenian style playing, Polka dancing, and even rock
and roll music performing!

and the AOK trio. Friday evening's concert theme was 'Polka Night',
and The Alaska Polka Chips, followed by Cleveland's Fred Ziwich rocked

Even the non-dancers couldn't manage to remain in their seats! Saturday's
concert featured international diatonic champion Miha Debevec from
Slovenia, Scottish player Mark Kenneth, Chicago's jazz king John Simkus,
Brent Buswell, Tex-Mex player Joel Guzman, Dee Langley with Orkestar
Bez Ime, former world champion Don Lipovac, MIDI expert Gordon Kohl,
and the 2007 NAA accordion orchestra directed by Dan Orza.
The
television station BBC Three marks Christmas 2007 with a nativity
play performed live and in public on the streets of Liverpool. This
major event will be the springboard for Liverpool's year as European
Capital of Culture 2008.
Liverpool Nativity tells the story of the first Christmas through
the music of Liverpool. Characters in the drama and the Royal Liverpool
Philharmonic Orchestra orchestra, featuring accordionist Mark Bousie,
with fresh musical arrangements will perform the familiar songs.
The hour-long production opens with the iconic image of a star that
shines high in the sky above Liverpool and culminates with the nativity
scene brought to life as thousands of voices sing the lyrics of the
city's great pop legacy.
BBC spokesman Adam Kemp says: "We are excited to bring such an
ambitious live event to the streets of Liverpool.
"People
should expect a magnificent spectacle, a singalong, and above all
a genuinely moving experience. We're hoping to give Merseyside its
most memorable Christmas ever!"

In February and March 2008, Austrian theatre director Christian Winkler
will be presenting a new and exciting show in collaboration with venues
in Austria and London. The production incorporates elements of musical
theatre, and requires an accordion player. The accordionist will need
to have a high technical ability, or be an excellent improviser.
Rehearsals will begin in London but will be completed in a renovated
Austrian castle, which is now a modern theatre complex (with accommodation
and rehearsal spaces). The show opens in a major theatre in Graz,
Austria on February 27th.
There will be 3-4 rehearsals in January, and a few rehearsals in early
February, organised to suit everyone's time commitments. There will
be a two-week period in Austria (one week rehearsal, one week performance)
with accommodation and flights included.
Dates for the London performances are yet to be confirmed, but are
set to be March/April.

The second 'Olimpo Musicale' International Competition takes place
at the Cultural Centre, Prienai, Lithuania, from June 3rd to 7th 2008.
The closing ceremony of the competition will take place at the Cultural
Centre concert hall on June 8th.
The competition is open for players who were born on or after January
1st 1991.
The Grand Prix will be awarded for the absolute winners in each category.
Diplomas and valuable prizes will be handed to Grand Prix winners
and their teachers. Diplomas and valuable prizes will be handed to
the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners. Diplomas and valuable prizes will
be handed to the teachers of the laureates - for their highest professional
skills (at the discretion of the Jury). Diplomas and prizes will be

teachers and accompanists will receive certificates.
The third 'Olimpo Musicale' International Competition will be held
in 2011.
